We are planning to activate Husband’s Perm. Residence when we drive up on June 20th. See this post for our backstory.
Already owning or leasing a place would make getting his PR Card faster- they won’t mail it to a PO Box, or c/o someone else. He can’t apply for his SIN or OHIP without a “real” address.
We are in no position to put down large security deposits for rent and utilities (it’s been 30 years since I’ve had Cdn credit history) while still paying rent+ here. But we only need to give 30 days notice where we are, and would like to move well before the snow flies.
Our target area is London- K/W; near family. All have offered sofa or backyard tents- but no one’s living in a McMansion.
Husband’s current employer would luv to keep him, but they only have Ontario locations in Toronto and Markham. However, he’s been promised ‘glowing letters of recommendation’ from a number of well-titled executives. I’m semi-retired (CPP and SSA) as well as doing freelance work.
The best solution I can think of is a lease on space from someone who’ll forego excessive deposits. Giving us the time to get Husband employed, then consider a larger place if we can.
This isn’t a request for direct financial aid, as we have saved up enough to cover a U-Haul and short-term storage locker if necessary. Having a home to move to is the final piece to get up there.
