Bucket List, The Squeakquel

A few years back I posted my newly-created bucket list, after talking about why I had refused to do one before. Now that I’ve celebrated yet another orbit around Sol (which is tied to the ability to work the list in question) a quick review. See also My Dream Home; a much more recent post.

My Bucket List:

  1. Successful creation of Family of Lovers and/or WIMP; projects to recognize and honour the political and musical impact of R&P;
  2. Have a real conversation with any number of comics and musicians who’ve helped keep me going. That is, something more substantial than a ‘meet & greet’ at a Con, or 90 seconds at a book-signing. While I’m not immune to fascination with actors and other peeps of fame, comedy and music have been HUGE parts of how I #survive2thrive;
  3. Be involved in the production of a #WLIIA super mega extravaganza (8+ ‘contestants’);
  4. Attend a 2 Spirit Pow Wow;
  5. Visit each Canadian province + territory, and all 50 US states, ;
  6. Visit each country within the United Kingdom;
  7. Be debt-free;
  8. Spend a week at Colonial Williamsburg, staying in a colonial home.

Today’s Update:

The first item remains the priority- working on it quietly except for when I post on Instagram, tagging people I’d like to be included.

Number 3 is pretty much ‘off the table’. There’s been no indication- formal or gossip- that WLIIA? is likely to resume production beyond the traveling live show. Enjoyable, but not structured in a way that I could be the Guest Host or Bits Writer.

Numbers 4,5,6 and 8 are distant dreams due to our financial situation, as hinted at by #7. Any sudden influx of funds that magically appear will be dedicated to moving my household to s/w Ontario; only then possibly ‘making Seven happen’. If it does while I’m still able to travel, those other items will be worked.

This leaves item #2. While I’ve been blessed to make online connections with some famous comedy and music peeps. at best they’ve moved from ‘fan’ to ‘acquaintance’. And I do appreciate when that happens; becoming truly a friend to someone you meet through their fame is rare and challenging. For well-known reasons.

Which does not mean I won’t stay open to the (naive?) possibility.

I guess I want to know that my appreciation for what they gave me (allowed me to find in myself) is felt by them just as deeply. And that is riddled with its own problems; unrealistic expectations and, potentially, emotional manipulation. But still… a long lunch without their Press Agent so we each escape life for a bit would be pleasant. You know who you are (cf unrealistic expectations).
